Welcome to Griffin Music Education
I speak in schools and conferences on a variety of topics including mindset, intrinsic motivation, musical skill dvelopment, memory formation, metacognition, multiple intelligence, and expert achievement. My talks are differentiated for several audiences - students, whole staffs, music staffs, parents and corporate events. During 2016 I provided music department PD for numerous schools and music services, some of which are listed below. My core full-staff keynote is Thrive! Linking Intrinsic Motivation, Mindset, and Metacognition.
My 2016 UK tour included Eton College, The Rugby School, St Paul's London Cathedral School, Kingsbury High, Nottingham High School, county music services Harrow, Dorset, Milton Keynes and Central Bedfordshire, British Suzuki Association, and Zurich International School for a 4-day guest educator role. Other engagements included Australian schools Kings, St Aloysius, Meriden (NSW), St Patricks, Churchie, AUSTA (QLD) Wilderness, King's Baptist, Trinity, OLSH, Adelaide Uni, SHC (SA), Perth Modern, Scotch, Churchlands, St Mark's (WA), Haileybury, Ballarat Grammar, Mentone Girls, Woodleigh, St Pauls, St Catherines, Werribee (VIC), and numerous conferences for TTA around Australia. More speaking enagagements took me to Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Bali. You can browse a full list of my school clients in more than 25 countries. In the diary for 2017 include keynote addresses for TASME, AIS (NSW), Maryborough (QLD), as well as events in the UK and Middle East. Read feedback from 2015 tour of the UK and Middle East. In 2016 I also enjoyed guest choral conducting for SEISA, Gippsland, and Wilderness, SA, and will return to SEISA for 2017. Details of my student presentations, workshops and staff professional development are in the Lectures and Workshops page of this site. I am very pleased with the response to my books. Learning Strategies for Musical Success continues to receive wonderful reviews.
As well as 'Learning Strategies for Musical Success' I have three other music education books suitable for a range of age groups. The popular Music and Keyboard in the Classroom is aimed for general music classes within a keyboard laboratory setting. Modern Harmony Method is suitable for more senior students involved in composition, arranging and harmonization. Good news for choral conductors; Bumblebee! Rounds & Warm-ups for Choirs, containing 130 warm-ups and rounds, is now in its second edition. Details of these books are in the Music Education Books section.
Recordings includes a library of school choir and jazz ensemble mp3s, and my own piano recordings. Please consider supporting my new CD's Consolation: Beautiful and Relaxing Piano Classics, and Shimmer: Sparkling Piano Classics. Ideal for newcomers to classical piano music, it would make a thoughtful yet inexpensive gift.
